Got my hands on the promo this week; gotta love house! Solid tracks but my favorites are the Latin summer flavor of the Guti Rmx and the deep David K Rmx. The And.ID Rmx twists into some dark tech-house grooves… Killer! Some good stuff here, all the mixes are strong but unique and the vox of Roland Clark really work with the vibe. Stay Tuned: Release Date 25 Oct 2010.

Press Release:

VIVa MUSiC delivers another example of why it is a leading light for all things underground, this time with label manager Steve Lawler releasing an EP that epitomises his vision for quality electronic productions. Featuring on ‘Gimme Some More’ is house music’s laureate Roland Clark, who is on hand to add his signature deep soulful vocals to Lawler’s erotic beats.

The original mix sees Lawler stay true to the groove, with a warm base-line driving a signature arrangement of drums that intertwine perfectly to create a platform for Clark to deliver a paean to the music he obviously loves dearly. His deep harmony invites the listener to delve deep into the music he holds so close to his heart. The rhythmic chant of ‘Gimme Some More’ demands Lawler to open his musical psyche further so listeners can fully lose themselves.

The EP also comprises remixes from a variety of underground house and techno artists whom Steve shares a synergy with. VIVa stalwarts Audiofly are on hand with a remix and a dub version, whilst fellow VIVa wizards Mendo and David K also give their take on the track. The EP is rounded off with And.ID and Guti remixes that complete a truly breathtaking package.

Fucking hot.

That’s all I need to say about the new Inland KnightsHalf Steppin EP“. Title track “Half Steppin” has a funky groovin smooshy bassline and a deep vibe and the flipside “Here Comes the Killa” brings a trippy tech-house attitude to the mix. Both winners! If you play house music and you don’t have this in your library, you suck. Oh, and check out some Inland Knights mixes while you’re here…

Really diggin’ the deep grooves on “Sound FX” and “70′s Born“. Deep and sensual house music is the name of the game on these tracks.

Press Release:

Here Black Bridge Recordings introduce their Black Feather Series, a proposed suite of releases focusing on the more DJ oriented side to Black Bridge’s downtempo eclectica. There’s no one better to kick things off than Maasa, a new alias of celebrated soulful house producer Matthew Bandy. Behind the helm of Deep House Souldiers, Bandy is responsible for a number of top tunes, including his “This Is Why We Dance” single which found itself on Ben Watt’s bestselling Buzzin’ Fly Vol. 1 compilation. Not content to stay with one style Bandy created Maasa to explore more eclectic, mid-tempo, disco-based endeavors. The 70′s Born EP is Maasa‘s inaugural expression.

With this EP Bandy’s Maasa project attempts to capture the sounds of his early inspiration, mainly the funk and disco music from the 70′s and early 80′s. Instruments of the era were used including Rhodes piano, clarinet, and early Roland Juno and Arp synthesizers. The feeling is authentic but brushed with a contemporary feel; groovy for dancefloors of the present day. This is exemplified by the lead track “Walking On The Moon.” Fitted with a strong 80′s funk bass and rhythm track the cut also sports a rich vibe with spacey melodic touches that will easily entice today’s nu-disco DJs.

Many of these same sonic elements are blended and given a more uptempo backdrop in the following track, “Sound FX.” Disco strings, horns, and funky synth action tie together a resolute groove handily winning over deeper dancefloors. “70′s Born” is another uptempo wonder adding a more percussive backdrop into the mix. Bass melodies guide the way as Maasa‘s now familiar string, rhodes, and synth embellishments accurately recall some of the production hallmarks of the decade in the title. Finally, “Walking On The Moon” is revisited with a crafty electric boogie remix by Brooklyn’s In Flagranti (Codek Records). The original’s heavy bass presence is the anchor as the inventive In Flagranti crew inject dubby percussion, large synth pads, and cosmic elements into their offering.

Got my paws on this EP over the weekend and fell in love… House music all the way on this. Neighbour RMX is my pick, but the Original is strong and Jay-J’s works bring a different flavor to the release… Pure groovin’ house, paino, guitars, a funky vibe and catchy vocals. Win!

Press Release:

After successful releases on major dance labels including Salted and Drop Music, Joshua Heath proudly presents the first release from his new label – Golden State Recordings.  “Copacetic” is the inaugural release by the boss himself. Featuring all the elements fans love about Heath’s Chuggin’ sound, this production features a groovy live bass line, well placed synths, funky guitar riffs and a catchy vocal hook. The track also features the debut performance by LA lyricist, Louis Hale.  With remixes by Jay-J & Neighbour, this package appeals to all dance music fans.  First up, Grammy® nominee Jay-J reworks the track in a minor mode with suspenseful changes in the Hammond b3 organ. With heavy drums, techy rhythmic elements and a deep, bouncing bass line, this remix sets the perfect dark & big room vibe.  Rounding out the package is Canadian producer, Matt Dauncey’s (aka Neighbour) sexy, smooth and deep revision of Heath’s Original Mix. A funky rework of the bass line and intricate synth arrangement, coupled with a hint of grit, makes this mix a sure bet to heat up dance floors worldwide.

New sweetness from the Love doctor showed up in the ‘box today… Just in time for some weekend house antics! The “Chuck Love Network Rework” is my pick of the EP… Gritty tech-house music, driving synths and an amazing broken-beat breakdown. Put some stank on it!

Press Release:

Love Network’s second release from Chuck Love.  Features remixes by RTHM. Chuck Love Network Bumper ID turns the dancefloor into a grinding, sexy, dirty romp through the tech house playground.  Complete with dirty synths, Chuck Love’s signature Stank-a-phone and a sexy vocal drop, this track will stir up the heat and passion within all the Tech Heads…  Chuck Love Network Rework is the high-energy alternative to Chuck Love Network Bumper ID.

A full force production, delicately balancing grit with funk, Chuck Love unleashes an unabashed fury. Using thick, electric synths, sultry and dubby vocals, he’s created an intimate and sexy production that appeals to all dance music fans…  For the deliciously soulful flavor, look no further then the RTHM Remix.  Take a melodic bump and grind on the techy tip while keeping it chunky and funky.  Precision vocal tweaking with the blip bleep feel makes this a fun ride perfect for getting the party rolling complete with movie-of-the-week style dialog.  The RTHM Busy Bonus Dub keeps the flavorful elements from his remix then adds some more melodica to spice up the cut.  Subtle rises, and even subtler falls, keeps the dub infectious and jumpin’.

In the world of Above & Beyond there’s only ever one way — up. In the last few years alone, the UK based production/DJ trio have debuted their full live show in front of 8,000 fans in Beirut, played to 1 million people on a beach in Rio de Janiero and even been chosen to soundtrack the unveiling of Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo. Not once, however, have they or their Anjunabeats label rested on their laurels.

Across a span of over 170 releases, Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats imprint has grown from humble beginnings to become a global standard-bearer for trance and melodic electronic music. Now, more than ever, it is is synonymous with a quality control that is all too lacking in today’s quick-fix digital age.

The two-disc Anjunabeats Volume 8 compilation is exactly how trance in 2010 should be. A journey showcasing the full spectrum of Above & Beyond’s sound, the compilation takes in electro-influenced grooves, deeper trance and hypnotic progressive textures alongside their trademark euphoric anthems.

Above & Beyond themselves offer a taste of their long awaited second artist album through the instant, emotional highlight ‘A Thing Called Love’, while their debut collaboration with respected German duo Kyau & Albert (‘Anphonic’) provides a driving, upbeat club monster that will be sending message boards, clubs and stadia crazy for months to come.

With over 20 separate artists featured, Anjunabeats Volume 8 is also a testament to the vital transatlantic family that the label now represents. Ascendant talents like Arty, Aruna and 7 Skies inspire fresh excitement. Andrew Bayer’s trio of deep, genre-blurring productions mark him out as one of the most exciting names to come through the ranks since Mat Zo, who himself features through his remix of ‘Live Forever’ by Lange feat. Emma Hewitt.

There’s welcome room, of course, for long-standing Anjuna favourites like Oliver Smith, Nitrous Oxide and Super8 & Tab who make a double apprearance ahead of their debut artist album and unleash their most accomplished creations yet. In the beautifully crafted ‘Piece Of Me’, the Danish Daniel Kandi has another timeless classic in the making and Dutchman Bart Claessen offers the magically climbing ’90 Nights Of Summer’. Volume 8 also heralds the first Anjuna release by Duderstadt with ‘Stranded in NYC‘ plus new Anjuna signings Parker & Hanson, Thomas Datt and Who.Is, a collaborative project from Bart Claessen and Raz Nitzan.

Put simply, the mix is a snapshot of the future. The future of Above & Beyond, the future of the Anjunabeats family and the future of trance.
