Happy Thanksgiving! I’ve got so much to be thankful for, but for the sake of brevity I’ll narrow it down to a few things everyone here on the site should take a moment to remember this holiday season: the music and the people that make it happen. That means the DJs, the producers, the promoters, the clubs and of course the fans! Have fun, be safe, dance hard ~

Wow, I think I just soiled myself… Growling synths, wobbly bass on steroids, sirens, and plenty of aggression for the floor! Zodiac Cartel does it again! (Available for purchase)

RIP
The DJing community and the greater dance music scene mourns the loss of a clubbing staple today. No, Steve Aoki hasn’t hung up his record bag, but rather news has emerged that iconic turntable manufacturers Technics will be stopping production on their universally loved Technics 1200s and Technics 1210s.
In a statement re-posted on dance board Global Hardstyle, the company behind the production of the Technics turntables Panasonic announced that they would cease the manufacture of Tehcnics turntables in February next year, citing an increasing decline in sales as the motivation behind the line’s demise.
The Australian arm of Panasonic issued a similar statement today, expressing their disappointment that the brand’s 35 years-and-running legacy was to be put to bed.
“It is a sad day today but due to low sales globally in analogue turntables a decision to stop production has been made on Technics Turntables,” Panasonic spokesman Ian North explained. “For Australia this means we will receive our last shipment in March.”
With the disappearance of Technics decks now imminent it’s becoming increasingly clear that the digital juggernaut is showing no signs of slowing down. We’ve already heard from trance icon Tiesto how he’s abandoned the ‘outdated’ medium in favour and gone for the ease and accessibility of digital tune libraries. Indeed, the new (and might we just say super-sexy) CDJ-2000s from Pioneer look to be making things easier than ever before with USB stick functionality, employed just last weekend by another digital convert Sasha.
Whilst we’re sure the classic Technics turntables will live on in the hearts of many club-reverent folk out there – not to mention in more than a few purist clubs – it’s still a crushing blow to lose the decks, and if nobody minds, we’ll be bringing beer o’clock around early this Friday afternoon.

A balmy but dry evening to kick off the holiday season, a head full of candy and Denver’s most enthusiastic club kids… Schools out, let’s party!
After a decade of successfully debacherous Twenty40 events, Jason Proteje and Devious D have spawned the next generation of morally questionable good times. Twenty42 is steppin’ up the game in the Mile High City with a massive makeover: fresh talent, all new events and virgin venues. The original Twenty40 made a mark in Colorado nightlife with sell-out shows (who could forget the annual Naughty Schoolgirls, or the tricks — and treats — at their Halloween shows, and of course the Hedonism parties?). They’ve also played an important role helping organize and promote the hugely successful regional events like Global Fridays and Caffeine.

The Church (Denver, CO)
Friday night found Denver’s dance music community congregating at the award-winning Church nightclub for the official launch party of Twenty42. DJ Krootz (EMP Audio/Twenty42/Dank Radio) opened the party right with a slow-burning house tip and as the kids trickled in from the cold line out front the kick drum drove out the chill and melted away the worries of the week. He turned up the heat with a few unreleased bombs by local legends like Jontron and Seth Orin. A few uninhibited souls broke out the glow sticks early and I was sent scrambling for cover when the swinging ropes of liquid light came a bit too close to my camera. Some drinks with events promoter Digger Denny, shooting the breeze with the beautiful go-go girls, and a bit of catching up with Twenty40 co-founder Bryan Matthew got my evening off on a positive note.

One of the pioneers of the culture...
