Miguel Migs – The System ft. Capleton (Om Records, OM537) (Preview Clips) by Kahua Music
Elroy Says: A great Original track doesn’t always make great Remixes, but in this case everybody wins. Diggin’ all of them, but my favorite is Petalpusher’s Salted Disco Dub. Expect “The System” out 27 Feb 2012.
Featuring dancehall legend Capleton, ‘The System’ was one of the standout tracks from Miguel Migs’ recent album ‘Outside the Skyline’ and captured the attention of none other than dub legend Mad Professor who provides two remixes. Other re-rubs come from Rob Garza (Thievery Corporation), Rob Paine and see the triumphant return of Migs’ Petalpusher alias, infamous in the late 90’s and early 00’s for releases on Naked Music.
Where Migs created a beat-driven, progressing tune on ‘The System’, Mad Professor halves the tempo, saturating the track with space reverb and dancehall stabs. Then the Prof takes things one step further with the dub – a stable hi-hat ride lights the way through an absolute haze of echo and vocal chops. Rizlas recommended.
The second half of the single sees Migs return to his Petalpusher moniker for a deep Salted groove. Thievery Corporation’s Rob Garza delivers a building synth progression and Rob Paine rounds out the remixes with a bouncing pool party clatter behind Capleton’s alternating growl and croon.
Miguel Migs has emerged from San Francisco’s deep house scene as an artist who transcends the stylistic limitations of genre in a way so very few have managed. In his own words, “I take inspiration from everything around me. Its not about trends or what’s fashionable, its about creative expression, quality, emotion and artistic integrity.”
Jon Delerious – “Believe In You EP” [preview]

Artist: Jon Delerious
Title: Believe In You EP
Label: Lost My Dog (UK)
Style: Deep House
Elroy Says: Huxley’s Remix of “Believe in You” is where it’s at. Deep, melodic, epic, and atmospheric. Not enough cliched adjectives to describe how awesome this track is.
Lost My Dog’s first EP of 2012 see’s Canadian stalwart Jon Delerious, best known for his music on Nordic Trax, debut on the label. Three original cuts are backed by remixes of the title track from two of the current hottest names in deep house – Huxley and Giom.
The sound is typical Delerious and Lost My Dog – lush, warm, deep grooves always with an eye firmly on the dancefloor. Huxley’s mix is throbbing and driving with glorious breaks into the sweeping strings, while Giom takes things into piano-led moody territory underpinned by another of his huge trademark basslines.
Calgary’s Jon Delerious has been a staple of the ‘west coast’ house scene since his first ‘big’ gig in 1992. Since then his production talents have seen him grow into an internationally respected DJ/producer with his music being supported by a diverse array of artists from Gilles Peterson through to Laurent Garnier. He’s played around the globe with some of house music’s finest including ‘Little’ Louie Vega, Carl Cox, Mark Farina and Ben Watt. A regular on Nordic Trax he’s also been featured on City Life, Doppelgaenger, Filter Music and more over the years.
Huxley’s meteoric rise in recent months has made him one of the hottest names in deep house, with a string of releases on labels such as Morris Audio, Leftroom and Tsuba. Having appeared on Lost My Dog’s last release with a remix of ‘Looking Back’ by Mike Richardson, Howard Sessions and KT Forrester, the man from Tring is back straight away with a rework of ‘Believe In You’.
Now firmly one of LMD’s mainstays, Giom kicks of another busy year with his first remix. 2011 saw the London-based Frenchman release his first mix CD ‘Clips & Space’ alongside a string of original tracks and remixes for the label, as well as headlining LMD events at Fabric and Sonar.
This EP kicks off an exciting 2012 for Lost My Dog which will feature new music from Ian Pooley, Moodymanc, Pete Dafeet, Demarkus Lewis, Dale Howard and YSE feat. Frank H. Carter III.

5 and Dime Recordings – 43 Degrees and Cloudy by 5 and Dime Recordings
Elroy Says: “Phase II” is the must-have cut off this one. It’s everything house music should be.
We’re pleased to announce the forthcoming release of our 3rd EP, 43 Degrees and Cloudy, which will debut on Beatport on January 18th, 2012. Building on the deep techy vibe that defined 5D002, 43 Degrees and Cloudy features three original tracks from Zach DeVincent, 5 and Dime newcomer Tony Rodelli, as well as label regular F Stop.
Track one on 5D003, DeVincent’s “Phase II” (Original Mix), once again features the richly layered sublime production and deep, spacey elements we saw in his last release on 5 and Dime. “Phase II” is a dance floor oriented chugger that masterfully blends the best elements of Zach’s deep house sound with a techy bassline and a groove that’s as hypnotic as it is anything else. Fans of Deep Tech House will not be disappointed with this one!
The second track on 43 Degrees and Cloudy, Tony Rodelli’s “The Way We Go” (Original Mix) has all the staple ingredients of some of Tony’s best work on other labels (Manchester United Music, Phrunky, and Drizzle Music to name just a few), such as a deep and soulful feel which is accented by the background keys throughout. Top class pacing, wispy background effects and vocals, as well as a deeply addictive groove make “The Way We Go” both a stellar track as well as a solid label debut. Already being played out by DJs such as Mark Farina (on his recent Muppets 21 podcast), we’re thrilled to welcome Tony to the 5 and Dime Recordings family.

Artist: Phil Weeks
Title: Love Affair LP (DJ Sneak vs The French Gangsters Remixes)

The start of 2011 saw Phil Weeks release his ‘Love Affair’ LP, exploring funk and soul samples and turning them into dance floor bombs in his inimitable style. Over the course of the year Phil has invited an all-star cast of remixers to rework the tracks across 4 vinyl releases and this final installment might well be the best yet as DJ Sneak goes up against Phil’s hand picked “French Gangsters” – namely D’Julz, Chris Carrier and DJ W!LD.
All four remixers can be considered house music legends and they show why on remixes of ‘Can’t Get Enough’, ‘Mind Game’, Luv U Need U’ and ‘Slow Dance (U Cry)’ – covering the full scope of Chicago, deep and tech house every version will undoubtedly rock dance floors the world over.
The vinyl will feature four remixes while a bumper digital package will include additional versions from DJ W!LD and D’Julz (included on this promo as tracks 5 and 6), as well as Phil’s four original album mixes.
